A group of young activist in the UK, participating in the\u00a0Mullivaikkal Remembrance Day event opposite British Prime Mister\u2019s office No. 10 Downing Street, Westminister, submitted a petition to the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Theresa May, signed by 138 grieving mothers who are currently staging a protest in Kilinochchi, northern District in Ilankai. A similar petition was also given to UN Secretary General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres by the International Truth and Justice Project (ITJP).<\/p>\n

The Tamil Coordinating Committee (TCC) also submitted a separate petition demanding the international investigation into the war crimes committed in Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n

The sit-in demonstration on the main A9 Road-side near the army camp has been going on for over three months. Since, the end of the war in May 2009, mothers from different Tamils speaking districts in the Tamil homeland were calling on the government to let them know where are their children surrendered to the army, but no answers given to them yet.<\/p>\n

The demonstrators say that they are using the only means at their disposal to voice their frustrations and get the national and international attention to their cause and get the Sri Lankan government to respond.<\/p>\n

A young Tamil activist Mr Luxshan Tharmalingam led this team including Mr Deivendram Letchuman, Mr Jeganathan Sivagnam, Mr Kirojan Thuraiyappah and Miss Ranitha Thiyagesu.<\/p>\n

The petitions call on the British Prime Minister and the UN Secretary-General to urge the government of Sri Lanka to release the names of those who are still in custody.<\/p>\n
